The Uley graphite mine is located on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, 23 kilometres from Port Lincoln. Graphite was discovered in the area in the early 1800's and has been mined intermittently at the site since the 1920's. When in production the open cut mine was capable of producing up to 14,000 tonnes of graphite concentrate annually. The mine was placed on care and maintenance in 1993 and has not been worked again until 2014.
