The Portia Gold Mine is the responsibility of, Benagerie Gold Pty Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Havilah Resources. Benagerie Gold Pty Ltd has contracted Broken Hill based mining contractor, Consolidated Mining and Civil Pty Ltd, to operate the mine on their behalf. Consolidated Mining and Civil Pty Ltd (CMC) has also backed a bank guarantee that has allowed Havilah Resources to proceed with the opening of the new gold mine in early February, 2015. As part of the agreement between Havilah Resources and Consolidated Mining and Civil, the contractor, CMC, will fund and carry out all mining operations at the Portia Gold Mine, including the delivery of the gold bearing ore to a stockpile on the surface. Benagerie Gold Pty Ltd will have the responsibility of processing the ore and the production of gold ingots that they will have transported to a refinery for further processing. The Portia Gold Mine will be managed by a joint operating committee thatis chaired by Benagerie Gold. This committee oversees the operation as well as the receiving and consideration of all operational reports relevant to the mining operation. Day to day mine management is the responsibility of CMC. Portia Gold Mine Preparatory Work Completed
Consolidated Mining and Civil and Havilah Resources have completed much of the preparatory work such as the upgrading of the access road. Other infrastructure includes a 50 person accommodation facility and onsite workshops. The installation of dewatering pumps, the building of pipeline corridors and a water storage dam had to be finished before mining could begin. Other infrastructure work carried out at the Portia Gold Mine has involved the re-establishment of an airstrip and the mobilisation of heavy earthmoving equipment to the mine site. The removal of overburden and mining of the ore body is expected to take place in March, 2015.
Mining contractor, Consolidated Mining and Civil, is an experienced Broken Hill based contracting company that also has mining contracts withPerilya Limited and Cristal Mining. The Portia Gold Mine is to be developed by CMC as an optimised open pit designed to recover about 80 percent of the JORC Inferred Resource of 67,000 ounces.This is based on the mine containing 720,000 tonnes of gold bearing ore grading at 2.9 grams a tonne of gravity recoverable gold. CMC are planning on delivering the first batch of gold bearing ore to the onsite processing plant by June, 2016.
Havilah Resources acquired the Portia Gold Mine in 2003 and had received all necessary state government approvals by October, 2014.
