The Nullagine Gold mining project is located 1,380 kilometres north north east of Perth and 10 kilometres south of the town of Nullagine in the East Pilbara Region of Western Australia. It is fully owned and operated by Millennium Minerals Limited.

Nullagine Gold Mine Located in one of the Oldest Goldfields in Western Australia

The Nullagine gold mine, that is situated in one of the least explored and oldest goldfields in Western Australia, is part of 640 square kilometres of mining tenements. Construction of the Nullagine Project was completed in September 2012 and the first gold produced from the mining operation was poured during the same month. The mine began commercial production in January 2013.

The Golden Eagle Deposit is the Largest of the Nullagine Gold Mine Open Pits

There is a resource of 1.91 million ounces of gold at the Nullagine gold mine grading at 1.26 grams a tonne that is hosted in seven separate deposits, all located on Nullagine mining leases. The largest of these is the Golden Eagle deposit which contains 42 percent of the areas's total mineral resource. The golden eagle deposit is located 10 kilometres south of the township of Nullagine. It is estimated, on currently known resources, that the Nullagine gold mine will have a life of mine of around six years. The mine is designed to produce around 70,000 ounces of gold a year although Millennium Minerals have planned to increase this to 100,000 ounces annually.

Nullagine Processing Plant Treats ore From Various Open pit Operations

The Nullagine mine gold bearing ore is processed at its1.5 million tonnes a year carbon-in-leach treatment plant that is sited near the Golden Eagle deposit, the ore treated is sourced from several open pits. The ore mined from the various pits is delivered to a 150,000 tonne stockpile, it is then taken from the stockpile to the run-of-mine (ROM) crusher feed bin by a front end loader. This system allows for blending to occur thereby fully optimising the processing results.

Gold Discovered at Nullagine in the 1890's

Gold was initially discovered in the Nullagine area as far back as the 1890's. This find created a gold rush of such a size it caused the London Stock Exchange to take notice. By 1900 there were many workings and processing plants scattered around Mosquito Creek area. At the of 1937, 47,380 tonnes of ore had been mined resulting in the production of 78,108ounces of gold and 8,904 ounces of silver.

Millennium Minerals acquired the Nullagine mining tenements in May, 2001, all of which are subjected to a native title agreement with local traditional landholders, the Palyku and the Njamal people.

The Nullagine gold mine was designed in 2011 by Mintrex, a Subiaco based mining engineerring, procurement and construction management company. The mine receives it power from a 9MW power station, containing nine 1MW diesel generators, that is owned, built and maintained by KPS (Kalgoorlie Power Systems). The mechanical, structural and piping works at the Nullagine Gold Processing Plant was contracted to Interquip, a Perth based mining contracting company. Western Plant Hire (WPH) supplies and maintains the crusher feed and ancillary equipment as well as the entire mine loading and haulage fleet. Coffey Geosciences completed the study on the tailings storage strategy as well as surface water management with Hellman and Schofield and Resource Services Group carrying out scoping studies and resource estimation.
