The HBJ (Hampton-Boulder-Jubilee) mine is one of the largest open pits in the South Kalgoorlie Operation that is supplying over one million tonnes of ore annually for the Jubilee Gold Treatment Plant to mill and process . Most of this ore has been coming from the HBJ (Hampton-Boulder- Jubilee) pit and low grade stockpiles because of a large push back, or cutback, occurring at the HBJ pit that is exposing another ore body sitting immediately below the existing deposit. The HBJ (Hampton-Boulder- Jubilee) gold bearing ore body is about 2.6 kilometres deep and 2.6 kilometres long. It has been mined on and off for more than 25 years.
New Gold Treatment Plant on the Drawing Board
Alacer Gold Corporation is currently planning the construction of a new gold treatment plant to service the South Kalgoorlie Operation that would cater for an increased production level from the HBJ (Hampton-Boulder- Jubilee) mine. The new plant would have a capacity of processing 2.5 million tonnes of gold bearing ore a year and become the treatment hub for all the company's current ore sources and any further sources that could be developed in the future.
The present Jubilee gold processing plant was built is 1987 and kept in good working condition for the last 25 years. It incorporates the usual three stages of crushing, ball milling and integrated gravity circuit. It also uses the conventional carbon-in-leach (CIL), elution electro-winning and smelting processes. Gold recovery is at an efficient 85 to 95 percent.
