The Broula King gold mine is located 230 kilometres west of Sydney, nearthe town of Bumbaldry and between Cowra and Grenfell, in the central western slopes region of New South Wales. The mine is owned by Resource Base Limited, an Australian based exploration and gold mining company and operated by Broula King Joint Venture, a wholly owned subsidiary of Resource Base Limited.

Broula King Gold Treatment Plant Completed in 2012

The construction of the gold treatment plant at the Broula King gold mine was completed and became operational in 2012. By June 30, 2013, it had successfully treated 103,888 dry tonnes of gold bearing ore that produced 226,970 grams of gold. However, on July 31, 2014, the Broula King Project was placed on care and maintenance as a direct result of the low price of gold and the exhaustion of known gold reserves at the mine site.

The final gold bar produced from the Broula King gold mine was poured in September, 2014.

Gold First Mined at Broula King Mine in 1901

Gold mining was first carried out at the Broula King mine as early as 1901Mining continued at the site, on and off, until 1939. During that period the Broula King mine produced 2,830 ounces of gold. Since that time there hasbeen much exploration drilling and surface geochemical data accumulated regarding the mineralisation of the Broula King deposit. A successful Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the Broula King mineralisation was lodged in January 2005 and received approval in November, 2005, which led to the granting of the latest mining lease.

Broula King Gold Treatment Plant Used CIL Technology

Hardwon Resources acquired the Broula King Project in 2000 which led to the formation of the Broula King Joint Venture that led to the ultimate mining of low grade fine grained gold that was found to exist in highly altered silica-sericite zones and to a lesser quantity in veins of quartz. The Indicated gold resource at Broula King in 2005 was recorded as being 180,000 tonnes of gold bearing ore that contained 23,000 ounces of gold that was to be mined over a period of two years. The resource was mined via an open pit type operation using frontend loaders. The gold treatment plant at the Broula King mine used carbon-in-leach (CIL) technology and electrowinning from solution.
