The Yeneena copper and zinc development project is located approximately 245 kilometres northeast of Newman, in the Patterson Province, within the East Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project is wholly owned by Encounter Resources Limited, an Australian listed exploration and resource development company with its headquarters in Perth.
The Yeneena project covers an area totaling 1,800 square kilometres and is surrounded by the Telfer copper and gold mine which is situated 30 kilometres to its northeast, the Kintyre uranium deposit, the Woodie Woodie manganese mine and the Nifty copper mine, which is located about 40 kilometres to its northwest.
The Yeneena copper and zinc development project deposits are situated near major regional faults that have been discovered with the use of structural, electromagnetic and geochemistry targeting. These greenfield base metals ore body finds indicate the potential for the project to be developed into a high quality, large tonnage, copper and zinc mining operation.
In mid 2015, Encounter Resources Limited announced that the farm-in agreement it had with London Stock Exchange subsidiary, Antofagasta Minerals Perth Pty Ltd, to develop the Yeneena base metal project, had been discarded in favour of Antofagasta entering into a new farm-in agreement with Encounter Resources Limited, to develop its nearby Lookout Rocks Copper Prospect. This meant the Yeneena copper and zinc project was once again wholly owned by Encounter Resources Limited. The Lookout Rocks Prospect included around 450 square kilometres of tenements that comprised untested exploration ground located to the north west of the Yeneena Project.
Encounter Resources Limited, with its 100 percent interest in the unencumbered Yeneena Project, is now free to progress the advanced BM7 and BM1 copper projects covering an area of 430 square kilometres in the southern area of the Yeneena project. Encounter Resources have therefore announced their intention to complete a RC drilling campaign centred on the BM1 and BM7 near surface copper targets.
Encounter Resources Limited have entered into a farm-in agreement with Hampton Hill Mining to further develop the Millennium Zinc Project, that is also part of the wider Yeneena base metal project group of assets. The Millennium project is located about 35 kilometres southwest of the Telfer gold mine, that is owned by Newcrest Limited.
Hampton Hill Mining NL was established in 1994 to search for exploration opportunities where high risk can also mean high rewards, particularly where any risk can be mitigated by forming joint venture partnerships. Hampton Hill Mining is currently focusing on development of the Millennium Zinc Project where it has a 25 percent interest.
