The Rocklea Channel Iron Deposit (CID) that is part of Australian ASX listed, Chinese mining company, Dragon Energy Limited's, Pilbara Iron Project, is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 33 kilometres southwest of Tom Price.

Dragon Energy put Three Projects Together to Form the Pilbara Iron Project

Dragon Energy Limited acquired the Rocklea CID project from Ausquest Limited in 2010 as well as an adjoining Rocklea iron project from Murchison Metals in 2012. The two Rocklea acquisitions along with the company's own, Nameless iron ore project, make up Dragon Energy's, Pilbara Iron Project, that contains an iron ore Resource of 383.91 million tonnes grading at 50.95 percent iron. The three deposits are important to the future development of the project as far as startup, and ongoing mining costs are concerned.

The Rocklea CID, Rocklea Iron project and the Nameless Iron ore project, that now make up the wider Pilbara Iron Project, will allow Dragon Energy to develop a large scale iron ore mining operation at the site, with the added benefit of economies of scale.

Rocklea CID has 15 Kilometres of Strike

At the time of acquiring the Rocklea CID project from Ausquest Limited, Ausquest had identified 15 kilometres of strike, with a width varying from 200 to 600 metres, that had been subjected to 12.5 kilometres of drill testing.

The Dragon Energy Limited's Pilbara Iron Project, is conveniently placed to become the iron ore rich, Pilbara region's, next iron ore mine, with Inferred and Indicated mineral JORC resources of 383.1 million tonnes grading at 50.95 percent iron.

Pilbara Iron Project Scoping Study Completed in 2012

A Pilbara Iron Project Scoping Study completed by GHD in early 2012 favourably analysed the economic and technical feasibility of the project going ahead. A Feasibility Study was undertaken in 2013 which led to a mining proposal being submitted to the Western Australian government, which resulted in a Vegetation Clearance Permit being granted. Studies have been carried out regarding the options available to transport ore from the Pilbara Iron Project mine to the port for export.

Dragon Energy Limited has Large Tenement Holdings in Western Australia

Dragon Energy Limited is a mineral exploration company with an extensive portfolio of tenements in Western Australia. The company currently has a petroleum project near Geraldton and three mineral projects in the midwest and the Pilbara regions. Its mineral projects total 10 tenements covering an area of 631 square kilometres with exploration targets of iron ore, base metals, gold and manganese. The petroleum project comprises an exploration permit application covering 1,277 square kilometres containing potential gas and oil prospects.
