The Vale owned Integra open cut and underground coal mine near Singleton, in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, that has been on a care and maintenance status since July, 2014, was successfully sold to the Glencore and Bloomfield mining companies on August, 25, 2015. Vale, a Brazilian mining company, have no further coal mining interests in New South Wales as a result of the sale.

Bloomfield Takes Over Ownership of the Integra Open cut Mine

The sale agreement allows Bloomfield to take over the Integra open cut mine, that was formerly known as the Camberwell open cut and has a capacity to produce 3.6 million tonnes a year of thermal and semi-soft coking coal, along with the railway loop and wash plant. As the Integra open cut is adjacent to Bloomfield's Rix's Creek open cut mine it will be developed, in the future, as the Rix's Creek North Mine.

Glencore Takes Over Ownership of the Integra (Glennies Creek) Underground Mine

Glencore acquired the Integra underground mining operation, however, Glencore retained the right to use rail loop facilities and the wash plant on a cost plus basis. Bloomfield had been using the Vale owned Integra rail loop as part of its Rix's Creek operation.

The Integra underground mining leases are located adjacent to Glencore's fully owned Mt Owen open cut mine that produces around eight million tonnes of ROM (run of mine) coal a year.

The Vale owned underground mine, that was formerly known as the Glennies Creek mine, contains premium grade semi-hard coking coal reserves totalling more than 35 million tonnes. It also has approvals allowing it to produce up to 4.5 million tonnes of ROM coal annually. All coal produced from both the vale owned Integra underground and open cut mining operations is transported 100 kilometres by rail to the Newcastle port from where it is exported.

Bloomfield to Develop the Integra Open cut Mine as Rix's Creek North

The Bloomfield Group will operate the Rix's Creek North mine as part of its current Rix's Creek mining operation at a future date. The company said it will spend the rest of 2015 working out how this is to be achieved.

Glencore has stated it has no plans to resume mining at the Integra underground mine at the present time despite the mine being located immediately south of its current operations. It said the acquisition was made with future optionality in mind.

Bloomfield is a 100 Percent Australian Owned Mining Company

The Bloomfield Group is an Australian owned coal mining and engineering company fully based in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. It employs more than 500 workers and has been in business since 1937. Its Rix's Creek mine employs 130 people directly as well as supporting many suppliers and contractors. It also operates a coal mine at Ashtonfield, East Maitland, in the Hunter Valley.

Glencore is one of the World's Largest Mining Companies

Glencore is one of the largest resource companies in the world. Its operations include more than 150 metallurgical and mining sites as well as oil production and agricultural interests. It has over 90 offices in more than 50 countries. It is one of Australia's largest coal producers having 13 separate complexes as well as owning 20 operational mines across Queensland and New South Wales. Glencore employ around 8,200 Australian workers and produces around 98 million tonnes a year of coking and thermal coal, mainly for the export market.
