Sterlite Industries
Sterlite Industries is a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources, a metals and mining company with operations in India and Australia.
Originally incorporated in 1975 as Rainbow Investments Limited in Calcutta and later changing their name to Sterlite Industries in 1986.
Entering into Australia in 1999 after acquiring Copper Mines of Tasmania which operates the underground Mount Lyell mine in Western Tasmania. Since Sterlite Industries has been operating Mount Lyell the mines production has increased from 2 million to 2.7 million tonnes of ore each year.
