OceanaGold was encorporated in 2003 and listed on the ASX and NZX in 2004.
The companies flagship project, Macraes Open Pit mine and Frasers underground, on the South Island, is New Zealand's largest gold producing operation, which has been in operation since 1990. Producing over 4 million ounces of gold during this time, Macraes has an estimated mine life until the end of 2017.
OceanaGold has a small interest in Junction Reefs exploration leases in New South Wales, Australia. Junctions Reef is a joint venture with OceanaGold, Newcrest Mining and Barrick Gold, and incorporates a number of exploration and mining leases adjacent to the Cadia Valley copper and gold mining operations.
In the Phillipines, OceanaGold owns and operates the high grade copper gold Didipio mine, located 270kms north of Manila. The first copper concentrate was produced in 2012 and commercial production was declared in early 2013. The expected life of mine is expected to be 16 years, which Didipio is expected to produce 100,000 ounces of gold and 14,000 tonnes of copper.
