Established in 1982, New Zealand Coal and Carbon Ltd (NZCC) is New Zealandís largest non-government owned coal mining company and exporter of coal.
The company encompasses two mining companies ROA Mining Company Ltd and Francis Mining Co. Ltd with main operations based on the West Coast of New Zealandís South Island.
ROA Mining Company Ltd operates the ROA Mine, predominantly an underground mine, renowned for its specialist hard coking coal.
Francis Mining Co Ltd operates the Echo Mine, an opencast mine producing specialist low ash semi-soft coking coal.
