GVK Hancock is a joint venture combining GVK, with one of Australiaís leading resource companies Hancock Prospecting.
The joint venture is developing the vast potential of the Galilee Basin in Central Queensland that will deliver one of the most significant pieces of regional and economic development the State of Queensland has seen for decades, providing over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs.
GVK Hancock are developing the Alpha Coal Project, located in the Galliee Basin Qld, Alpha will be a 32 Mtpa open-cut coal mine and has an expected mine life of 30 years plus.
Located immediately to the north and adjacent to the Alpha Coal Project is Kevins Corner, a thermal coal deposit owned by Hancock Galilee Pty Ltd (HGPL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the GVK Group. It was previously owned by Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd. until 2011. The mine plan for Kevin's Corner is designed around a stand-alone mining project that will stage the ramp up to full production over a period of five to seven years after a two year construction period to first coal.
The Alpha Coal West Project is a thermal coal deposit located immediately to the west of the Alpha Coal Project. The mine will utilise the rail and port infrastructure established for both Alpha and Kevinís Corner developments as well as sharing elements of the site-based infrastructure such as roads, airports, and water and power supply lines.
