GlencoreXstrata was formed following a merger of Glencore International and Xstrata, the merger was completed in May 2013. But a decision was made by the Company's shareholders during the annual general meeting and the announcement was made in May 2014 that Glencore will drop Xstrata and be simply known as Glencore.
Glencore and Xstrata had come together on numerous agreements in the last 10 years, since 2002 when Xstrata acquired Australian and South African coal assets from Glencore.
The company specialises in metal and minerals operations including Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Ferroalloys, Alumina/Aluminium and Iron Ore.
Glencore's energy products focus on coal and oil, with interests in over 30 operating coal mines in Australia, South Africa and Columbia.
Also sourcing crude oil and oil products from a variety of suppliers, interests in oil and gas production and has continual exploration and drilling programmes.
