Fluor Australia

Originally founded in 1912 and later coming to Australia in 1950 after World War II. Playing a major part in infrastructure projects such as building and maintenance of bridges, railways and harbours and constructed the Eildon Dam in Victoria.

Fluors timeline continued as follows:

  • 1956- Fluor entered into the natural resources sector and assisted clients in coal, iron ore, bauxite, copper, gold, nickel, cobalt, zinc, lead and silver mining.
  • 1960's- aiding in production of energy and chemicals and saw them carry out design, construction and maintenance projects of refineries, pipelines, power plants and chemical facilities
  • 1970's- Fluor completed construction of Goonyella Coal Mine, railway and port and commenced a series of oil and gas projects
  • 1980's- completed the Dampier to Perth pipeline
  • 1990's- contracted for Melbourne and Adelaide oil refineries and continued projects and successes through the year 2000
  • Today after 60 years in business Fluor continues to provide skilled labour hire, equipment and services to mining operations Australia wide, providing for major mining companies such as Rio Tinto and Santos.

    As part of a joint venture with SKM, has been involved in engineering, procurement, and construction management services for Iron Ore expansion projects in the Pilbara, WA, other contracts include, Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas Project and providing track maintenance, construction, replacement and maintenance of track machines for Rio Tinto Iron Oreís heavy haul railway in the Pilbara.
