First Quantum Minerals Ltd

First Quantum Minerals Ltd, first incorporated in 1983, is a well established and rapidly growing mining and metals company operating seven mines and developing five projects worldwide. The company produces copper, nickel, gold, zinc and platinum group elements.

In Australia the company owns the Ravensthorpe open pit nickel mine, located in Western Australia, approximately 550 kilometres south-east of Perth.

The mine was decommissioned in February 2010 and during the following 18 months, significant modifications to the processing plant focusing mainly on the redesign of the crushing, conveying, storage, reclaim and rejects areas were made, with commercial production being achieved on December 28, 2011.
