Their coal network in Central Queensland that is approximately 2670 kilometres of heavy haul rail infrastructure, along with their fleet of locomotives and wagons.

Aurizon also runs the largest haul service of iron ore in the Pilbara WA.

Currently, Aurizon is investing $130 million into the Goonyella Rail Expansion Project. The projects will lift coal haulage capacity from 129 million tonnes per annum to 140 mtpa on the Goonyella System. The rail system upgrade will allow an additional 11 million tonnes per annum capacity on the network, assisting future growth of Queenslandís coal industry and the state economy, and in turn supporting port expansion by BMA to lift the capacity at Hay Point Coal Terminal.
