Arrium Mining & Materials

The company was listed on the ASX in 2000 as OneSteel Limited following its spin-off from BHP. At that time, it was solely a domestic steel long products manufacturer and distributor of steel products throughout Australia and New Zealand.

The company has subsequently focussed on growing its resource based businesses and now has significant Mining and Mining Consumables businesses, as well as Arrium Steel.

Now an international mining and materials company that exports approximately 12million tonnes of hematite ore per year from its mining operations in SA.

Employing around 10,000 people the company supplies ore to Arriums integrated steelworks at Whyalla. They are a premier manufacturer of long steel products, steel pipe and tube and wore products in Australia and supply scrap metal to smelters, foundries and steel mills in Australia and Asia.

The two hematite iron ore operations are the Middleback Ranges and Southern Iron. Additional to this, Arrium Mining also has a high quality dolomite mine located at Ardrossan in South Australia.
