Gladstone tradies pay millions for Curtis Island gear

Tuesday 10th of May 2016 08:11:09 AM

Gladstone tradies have splashed some cash on the Curtis Island construction gear at the latest Hassalls auction, according to a post-auction stock count.

Hassalls general manager Steve Wall said tradies forked out a staggering $1.2 million on second hand construction equipment, ranging from rolls of plastic to trucks.

He said it’s taken his company’s total sell off of Curtis Island Construction gear “north of $16 million”.

But he reassured those who missed out there’s “around $20 million left to go” in equipment.

“The tradesman turnout was more pronounced at this auction, as there was a larger range of general small construction equipment for sale,” Mr Walls said.

A post-auction stock count shows bidders cleaned up the 319 lots of gear that went under the hammer, with a clearance rate of 98%.
