Badja Station to Become Waste Facility

Gindalbie Metals is proposing to turn part of its operations at Badja Station in Western Australia into a national radioactive waste management facility.

The company said in a statement the facility would store and dispose of intermediate and low level waste safely, that was created from medical and other scientific waste.

Gindalbie said prior to its nomination it completed a programme of preliminary engagement and consultations with representatives of local communities and stakeholders.

Public consultations will continue at each stage of the project.

Badja Station is a destocked pastoral lease of 113,600 hectares, located 280 kilometres east of Geraldton in the mid west region.
