The Kogan North gas project is located 40 kilometres west of the town of Dalby in the Surat Basin in south east Queensland. It is a joint venture operation equally owned by Queensland government owned power generation company, Stanwell Corporation, and Arrow Energy, with 50 percent interest each. The first gas produced from the Kogan North project was sold under contract to Queenslands largest electricity generating company, CS Energy, in January 2006.

The Kogan North Gas Project got Underway With a 15 year Contract to Supply gas to Stanwell
Arrow Energy and Stanwell Corporation have entered into a 15 year agreement to supply two petajoules of gas a year to Stanwell Corporation. Stanwell Corporation receives the gas they have purchased at the inlet of their gas processing facility that is situated near Arrow's gas production fields at Daandine and Kogan North. The gas is taken to Stanwell's “E” power plant for the production of electricity via the Roma to Brisbane gas pipeline.

Kogan North CGPF Owned and Operated by the APA Group
The Kogan North Central Gas Processing Facility (CGPF) is both owned and operated by the APA Group, Australia's largest natural gas infrastructure company. The APA Group have gas transmission pipelines in every mainland state and territory that carry 50 percent of the country's total gas usage. The APA Group charges a tolling fee to process the raw gas from the Kogan North gas field under an agreement based on usage. The Central Gas Processing Facility comprises gas compressors that compress the gas to the same pressure as the gas in the Roma to Brisbane pipeline. It also comprises a dehydration unit.

Kogan North Gas is Naturally Formed Coal Seam Gas
Coal seam gas, as that extracted from the Kogan North gas field, is a natural gas formed as a by-product in the creation of coal. The coal seams store both water and methane gas, The water seals off the gas and prevents it from rising to the surface. Coal seam gas usually consists of between 95 and 98 percent methane gas with smaller amounts of nitrogen and carbon dioxide. The methane gas is greatly sought after for the generation of electric power as it is a much cleaner fuel than coal in that it emits far less greenhouse gas emissions.

Arrow Energy Receive Approval to Proceed With Arrow CSG-LNG Project at Gladstone
In September, 2013, Arrow Energy received approval from the Queensland government for its Environmental Impact Statement regarding its Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) project at Gladstone. An important milestone in the development of the multi billion dollar Arrow CSG-LNG project. The project includes an underwater gas pipeline in the harbour taking gas from Gladstone to Port Curtis as well as loading facilities and jetties.

The Arrow CSG-LNG project is an important part of the overall project that includes the proposed Surat Gas Project. The Surat Gas Project takes in Arrows 300 gas production wells at Kogan North, Tipton West, Stratheden and Daandine. The project being proposed will provide gas for the export and domestic markets and will be the largest exploration, development and gas production project ever undertaken by Arrow in the Surat Basin of Queensland.

Arrow Energy

Arrow Energy develop gas fields, produce and sell Coal Seam Gas (CSG) and generate electricity.Developing since 2000 and supplying since 2004, Arrow delivers around 20% of Queensland's gas supply from five CSG fields located in the Bowen and Surat Basins.Arrow sells gas to a few companies including...........read more
