The Haoma West gold deposit at the Mount Monger goldfield is located 50 kilometres south east of the mining centre of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. Access to the Haoma West deposit is obtained through use of the Daisy Milano decline to 36 level. The Haoma West mine is located to the west of the Daisy Milano deposit where it is made up of a series of felsic rock that consists of light coloured silicate minerals occuring in igneous rocks, with up to three mineralised quarts veins each. These felsic rock

instrusive formations trend south east - north west at the Haoma West underground mine with a dip of 75 degrees to the east. Silver Lake Resources undertakes an ongoing program of underground exploration to extend the up and down plunge mineralisation of the deposit.

The Haoma West Mine is Located in the Mount Monger Goldfield

The Haoma West mine at the Mount Monger goldfield is accessible out of Kalgoorlie via the Mount Monger Road, a sealed bitumen road for the first 15 kilometres. The final 35 kilometres is an unsealed all weather road. The Mount Monger project that is owned by Silver Lake Resources covers an area totalling 1,728 square kilometres.

Haoma West Mine ore is Processed at Either the Lakewood or Randalls Gold Treatment Plants

Mining of gold is carried out at the Haoma West mine with the use of hand held mining equipment, as well as more sophisticated mechanical means. The gold bearing ore from the Haoma West mine is processed at either of the Silver Lakes Resource owned Randalls or Lakewood gold processing plants, where the metallurgical process is undertaken in the conventional and straightforward manner. The ore is generally of a modest hardness containing around 80 percent gold. This gold is recovered by means of a gravity circuit before being put through cyanide leaching that returns a recovery averaging around 96 percent.

Gold Discovered at Mount Monger in 1896

Gold was first found to exist in the Mount Monger area, where the Haoma West mine is located, in 1896. However, main gold production in the area didn't get underway until around 1916 when numerous mines were established near the Mount Monger homestead. Average returns from this period were in the vicinity of more than one ounce of gold for every tonne of ore. The harsh conditions such as lack of water, high cost of mining areas containing narrow stopes with hand held mining equipment and the high cost of cartage into Kalgoorlie for processing, all took their toll and when the two world wars occurred large scale mining in the area virtually ceased.

Gold mining development in the Mount Monger goldfield didn't really get underway until a public company purchased the Daisy Milano mine in 2003 and then set about acquiring the tenements of the various independent prospectors. Silver Lake Resources purchsed all these tenements including the Daisy Milano operation in November 2007, along with the Lakewood gold processing facility (LGPF). Silver Lake Resources produced its first gold bar from the Mount Monger goldfield in March 2008.

The Daisy Milano underground mine decline has been used to access the Daisy East deposit, the Rosemary deposit and the Haoma deposit as well as the Haoma West deposit at 36 level.
