Silver Lake Resources acquired the Hoama gold deposit in 2007 when it purchased the Mount Monger tenements. It began mining ore from the Daisy Milano Mine the same year and extended the Daisy Milano decline from 32 level to mine the Haoma deposit in June 2011.

The Haoma Mine is Located Along the Mount Monger Road
The Haoma Mine is located 50 kilometres south east of the gold mining
centre of Kalgoorlie along the Mount Monger road. This is an all weather road for 35 kilometres leading into the mine site, although the first 15 kilometres out from Kalgoorlie is sealed bitumen. The Mount Monger tenements cover an area of 1,728 square kilometres.

Haoma Gold Deposit Accessed From The Daisy Milano Decline
At the same time as Silver Lake Resources acquired the Mount Monger gold operation in 2007, it also purchased the Lakewood Gold Processing Facility (LGPF) and immediately set about refurbishing the plant over the following four months. The first gold bar was produced from this facility by its new owners, Silver Lake Resources, in March 2008. The company discovered gold in the Daisy East ore body in July 2009 and the Rosemary deposit was accessed from the Daisy Milano mine's six level. The Haoma ore body being accessed via the Daisy Milano decline from levels 16,19,25,27,32,34 and 35.

The Mount Monger Operation has mined gold from Maxwells open pit as well as the Daisy Milano, Rosemary and Haoma underground mines. Mechanised mining methods only are used to mine ore at the Haoma deposit. Other gold deposits, either being mined or on the way to being mined at Mount Monger, include; Fly Camp, Santa, Cockeyed Bob, Imperial and Majestic.

Ore From the Haoma Deposit Processed at the Lakewood Gold Processing Facility
The gold processing plant, LGPF, where the ore from the Haoma ore body is processed, is 45 kilometres from the Haoma Mine and five kilometres from Kalgoorlie. The treatment process undertaken at the plant follows the conventional metallurgical method. Moderately hard ore is treated with around 80 percent of the gold being recovered by means of a gravity circuit before being exposed to cyanide leaching that gives a final recovery rate of around 96 percent.

Upgrades Lift Processing Capacity to One Million Tonnes a Year

Further upgrading of the treatment plant was completed in early 2010 that lifted the processing capacity from 300,000 tonnes annually to 600,000 tonnes. The latest upgrade was completed in late 2011 that increased the annual tonnage capacity to 700,000 of hard rock and 900,000 tonnes of soft rock ore. As a result of a new tailings storage facility being completed along with a ROM (run-of-mine) bin, the treatment facility can now be operated at a rate of one million tonnes a year.

Gold Mining Began in the Area in the 1900's

The Mount Monger gold operation, of which the Haoma Mine belongs, is within the Kalgoorlie Terrain of the of the mineral rich Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. Gold mining was first carried out in the area in the 1900's. There are several historic working extending to the north following a shallow alluvial cover that leads to an ancient drainage channel. Early miners appear to have only exploited the sub cropping of deposits not mining any more than 80 metres below the surface.
Silver Lake Resources have stated they have an ongoing commitment to carry out further underground exploration of the Haoma deposit.
