The function of our Research and Development Asia Pacific Team is to assist in the development and improvement of products, processes and technologies and provide technical support to the business that will enable Incitec Pivot and their subsidiaries (Incitec Pivot Fertilisers and Dyno Nobel) to provide high quality, cost effective and customer oriented products.

Reporting directly to our Senior Development Chemist, you will be based in our laboratory in Mt Thorley, NSW as a Laboratory Technician.

Primarily your duties will include;

  • Purchasing of laboratory materials and instruments to ensure adequate supplies available in the laboratory
  • Maintenance of laboratory and calibration of selected plant instruments in accordance with ISO9001 requirements
  • Analysis of reactive ground sampling
  • Providing support and assistance to other members of the R&D team in laboratory tasks
  • Establishing product stability and performance characteristics under simulated and user conditions by laboratory test methods
  • Evaluating potentially advantageous new raw materials in Dyno Nobel product formulations for cost effectiveness and compatibility by performing laboratory test procedures and field trials

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have completed either a B. Sc degree; or are enrolled in and/or have successfully completed at least the first year of the degree; and you will have attention to detail with the ability to work unsupervised and take initiative.

Experience in a Research and Development work environment, a NSW Blasting Explosives Users Licence, knowledge of emulsion technology, and good technical report writing and communication skills is highly desired but not essential.
